We'll see about that. There it is right below the clock circuit. It even has a nice solder blob on the pad there. Can it really be this easy. Soldered TX to TX (It looks like there is a buffer after TX on the midi board), 5v to 5v, ground to ground, plugged in, and hey, the light flashes (YAY!) but software doesn't do anything.

I guess it couldn't be that easy. Looks like the CTK-481 has midi out. That is just one number bigger. Maybe it is using the same circuitry. I'm loving that they all have service manuals floating around the internet. Different processor, same family. Looks like it gets inverted. I guess I'll probably need to invert the signal. The values don't match the CTK-481, and I didn't put in the capacitor shown in the CTK-481 diagram. And the board looks similar to the piture above CTK-481 in MIDI section. I wonder what tipe of IC six leg, transistor and typeof diode. I think those parts are difficult to find. Hoping any suggestion for you.thanks. Do you think it's possible? I suppose it probably would work. I thought about soldering that RX pin to the midi board, but I didn't have a good way to test it. I mean, I could midi-out from the computer, but I wouldn't be really sure if it is just the computer not working. The RX on the CTK-480 is tied to a 22 ohm pullup resistor. The 481 Service manual shows that as a 10 ohm resistor though, and also has a 1K ohm resistor before the RX pin. So, to make the equivalent circuit, you might need to cut the trace, or lift the RX Pin off the solder pad. I really like your project and I think I have skills to help you.
