Hardware T roubleshooter If a device is either not detected during the operating system setup or is detected but incorrectly configured, you can use the Hardware T roubleshooter to resolve the incompatibility. Starting Dell Diagnostics From Y our Hard Drive The Dell Diagnostics is located on a hidden diagnostic utility partition on your hard drive. NOTE: If your computer cannot display a screen image, see “Contacting Dell” on page 43. Ensure that the computer is connected to an 1. electrical outlet that is known to be working properly. Select Diagnostics from the boot menu and press. NOTE: If you see a message stating that no diagnostics utility partition has been found, run the Dell Diagnostics from the Drivers and Utilities media.</p><p> Starting Dell Diagnostics From the Drivers and Utilities Media Insert the 1. Any changes that System Restore makes to your computer are completely reversible. NOTICE: Make regular backups of your data files. System Restore does not monitor your data files or recover them. System Recovery Options NOTE: The User Account Control window may appear. These options restore your hard drive to the Any programs or files added since you received your computer—including data files—are permanently deleted from the hard drive. Data files include documents, spreadsheets, e-mail messages, digital photos, music files, and so on. If possible, back up all data before using Factory Image Restore. Dell Factory Image Restore T urn on the computer. When the Dell logo 1. appears, press several times to access the Vista Advanced Boot Options Window. Select 2. Repair Y our Computer. The 3.
